Homage2Fromage is a monthly cheese club that started in Leeds, then expanded to Sheffield, and now includes Harrogate and Manchester.
The aim of the club is to celebrate great cheese in an informal fun way - this is not about snobby cheese and wine tastings, it is about sharing one of the greatest foods ever, in a simple, relaxed way. Homage2Fromage helps you discover new cheese, meet like-minded cheese fans and hear some of the amazing stories behind cheese and cheesemaking.
How does it work?
You buy a ticket on our web site. We don't actually send a paper ticket but you will get an email confirmation and your name will be on the Guest List. Arrive in good time. We are usually busy setting things up right up until 7pm (our normal start time) and so we generally can't start letting people in until then. Once you have been checked in, you can take a look around the room - cheese is laid out and numbered (not named) and you can feel free to take some pictures, find somewhere to sit and discuss the forthcoming fromage!
As soon as we are all in, Vickie and I will call 'CHEESE!' This is your signal to tuck in, Help yourself to a piece or portion of each cheese, there will be crackers, bread and chutney, fruit and all kinds of accompaniments. Really, help yourself...
Try to remember the numbers - after enough time to enjoy the cheese we do a little presentation where we tell you what each cheese is, chat about each cheese, ask for your feedback, and give you some notes...
Each event is themed (cheddar, Irish, blue etc) and we sometimes have special cheese guests to talk us through their fromage (our first guest was Alex James and we've had people come from Dewlay, Cryer and Stott, among others since then)
